MICROSOFT COPILOT

Before Copilot will work in Excel, three things must be true:
1. Your workbook is saved to OneDrive or SharePoint (not local)
2. Your data is formatted as a table with clear headings
3. You click the Copilot button in the ribbon

Capabilities: Create charts, categorize data, summarize datasets, answer questions about your data, add calculated columns.

Key limitation: Without the Add-on License, Copilot creates a new document with changes rather than modifying your existing workbook directly. You'll need to copy results back.

Copilot in Outlook can:
- Find specific emails by content or sender
- Summarize all communications from a person over a period
- Draft emails with specified tone (formal, friendly, concise)
- Generate summaries with numbered references back to original content
- Auto Rewrite, Make Shorter, Make Longer, Change Tone on drafts

It can read calendar information and provide insights but cannot actively edit your calendar.

Most useful for: Catching up on a long email thread before a meeting, or drafting a response that matches the right tone for the recipient.

The Draft Bar appears above blank pages in new Word documents. It's your entry point for AI-assisted writing.

Workflow:
1. Open a new blank Word document
2. Click Draft Bar (appears above the blank page)
3. Attach reference documents (files, emails, calendar events)
4. Add your prompt
5. Use the Prompt Coach Agent to improve your prompt before sending
6. Review the output, suggest modifications, click 'Keep it'

Power move: Ask Copilot to create a slide deck based on the current document, with Anchor Brand Guidelines attached. It bridges Word and PowerPoint seamlessly.

Copilot in PowerPoint capabilities:
- List main points from your slides
- Produce speaker notes for each slide
- Generate images for slides
- Magic pencil (next to text boxes): Polish sentences, Make Professional, Auto Rewrite, Condense

Limitation: Add-on License required for active slide creation/modification. Without it, Copilot generates text for manual copy-paste.

Best practice: Use the Copilot web app (not in-app) for creating entirely new presentations. The web version has more capability for full presentation generation.
